Privacy Policy
MeetFor is an activity-meetup app: you post what you want to do and meet people nearby who want to do it too. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the MeetFor mobile apps and meetfor.app.
What we collect
- Account details — email address, a user ID you choose, display name, birthdate (to confirm you're 18 or older), gender, and country/postal code. If you sign in with Apple, Google, or Facebook we receive the name and email those services share.
- Profile content — photos, an "about me", interests, and anything else you add to your profile.
- Listings and events — what you post, its category, timing, and the place you choose to meet.
- Approximate location — with your permission, your device location, used to show you listings and events nearby and to show yours to people nearby. Other users never see your exact location: we store precise coordinates only server-side and show others an approximate area and rounded distances.
- Messages — chats and group chats you send through the app, so we can deliver them and so you can read them later.
- Activity — likes, comments, interest in listings, RSVPs, profile views, and reports you file.
- Device and technical data — a push-notification token if you allow notifications, device type and OS version, app version, crash and diagnostic information, and IP address.
- Purchase information — if you subscribe to Meet Pro, our subscription provider (RevenueCat) and the App Store or Google Play tell us your subscription status and expiry. We never see your card number.
- Advertising identifiers — on the free tier we show ads through Google AdMob. On iOS we only use the advertising identifier if you allow tracking when asked; otherwise ads are non-personalized.
How we use it
- To run the service: show nearby listings and events, deliver messages, send the notifications you've turned on, and process subscriptions.
- To keep MeetFor safe: content moderation (including automated screening of photos and text), handling reports, blocking, and enforcing our Terms.
- To communicate with you: account emails, a daily notification digest if you keep it on, and replies to your messages to us.
- To improve the app: aggregate usage and crash diagnostics.
- To show ads on the free tier and measure them.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who sees what
Other users see your profile (name, photos, about, interests, approximate area and distance), your active listings and events, and the messages you send them. They never see your email, birthdate, exact location, or purchase details. Service providers process data on our behalf under contract: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Expo (push delivery), Apple and Google (push, sign-in, payments), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Google AdMob (ads), Resend (email), Cloudflare (website and email routing), and an AI moderation provider for automated content screening. Legal: we may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the safety of users and the public.
Your choices and rights
- Location — you can revoke location permission in your device settings; the app then can't show nearby content.
- Notifications — every push and email type has its own toggle in Settings → Notifications; system push permission is controlled in device settings.
- Ads tracking (iOS) — change your answer any time in Settings → Privacy → Tracking.
- Blocking and reporting — available on every profile, listing, photo, comment, and message.
- Delete your account — Settings → Delete account removes your profile, photos, listings, events, and messages from our systems. Some records (for example reports you filed, or purchase records our payment providers must keep) may be retained as required by law.
- Access, correction, portability — email us and we'll help. Residents of California, the EU/UK, and other jurisdictions have additional rights under local law, including to object to or restrict processing and to complain to a supervisory authority.
Retention
Listings expire automatically after 14 days and are purged shortly after. Messages are kept until you delete the conversation or your account. Account data is kept while your account exists and deleted when you delete it, except where we must keep it for legal, safety, or accounting reasons.
Age
MeetFor is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account; we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 and will delete such accounts when we learn of them.
Security and transfers
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers. Our servers are in the United States; if you use MeetFor from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the U.S.
Changes
We'll post updates here and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
